Services - Overview
Commissioning
Commissioning is a vital quality assurance process that is being widely implemented in today’s building construction industry. It is a process that helps to insure that high performance buildings and systems are designed, built, tested and can be maintained to meet the owner’s specific operational needs. Modern buildings are growing increasingly complex with a myriad of interconnected systems, and KLG Jones provides a rigorous, systematic process to ensure that the systems are fully integrated and functional.
Existing Buildings
Two of KLG Jones’ core services, in addition to commissioning, are retro-commissioning and energy audits. Both of these services are centered on improving the energy efficiency of building systems and saving owners money. One recent retro-commissioning project is documented to be saving the owner over 70% annually on natural gas bills and 20% on electric bills. Our fees were recovered in three months of savings. Most of this savings were achieved through control system repair, calibration and optimization. All commercial buildings can benefit from retro-commissioning.
Energy Modeling
KLG Jones has years of experience with various software tools to provide load calculations and energy simulation models for various building types as required to demonstrate compliance with ASHRAE 90.1, to demonstrate energy performance exceeding ASHRAE 90.1 as required for LEED EA credit 1 points, to evaluate various energy conservation measures or alternative system selections along with life cycle cost analysis, or for measurement and verification analysis per the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol.
Continuous Commissioning
The long term performance of even the best buildings will deteriorate over time if not properly maintained. KLG Jones provides long term monitoring and calibration services for building owners to insure that control systems remain fully functional and responsive and that energy efficiency is maintained over time.
